Overview
You can now fill an Image Collection widget automatically from a Content List you have already built in the CMS, instead of adding every image one by one.
Point the Image Collection at an existing list screen, such as an Activities, Performers or Locations list, and the widget fills itself with that list's content. It also follows the list's pre-filters.
Why it matters
- Save time: build widgets from content that already exists in your CMS
- Do it yourself: build and update your home screen without waiting on the Leap team
- Fewer errors: no more entering the same content item by item
- Better home screens: your list screens already hold your most relevant, organized content
The manual + New Image Collection option is unchanged and still available.
Availability: This feature requires an app update and needs to be enabled on your project. To get it enabled, reach out to your Implementation Manager, Account Manager or Strategic Client Success Manager.

Setting It Up in the CMS
1. Create a New Image Collection
When you add an Image Collection widget, you now have two options:
- + New Image Collection: the manual option, where you add items one by one. Unchanged
- + From Content List: the new option that fills the widget from an existing list

2. Select Your Content List
Select + From Content List to open the setup screen, then choose a list under Content List used for Collection. Lists are grouped by type:
- Activities
- Performers
- Locations

3. Configuration Options
- The widget shows the first 10 items from the list
- You can turn on Randomize Order to shuffle those 10 items. The order changes each time the app is opened
- The order can't be edited inside the widget. A linked collection mirrors its list, so you change the order in the list itself
- The CMS live preview applies the same pre-filters as the app, so what you see in the preview matches what your users see. If the list has no items, the widget is hidden from the preview

Good to Know
- More than 10 items: the first 10 are used, in the list's order
- Exactly 10 items: all 10 are used
- No items: the widget hides itself automatically so an empty collection is never published. If you try to turn its visibility back on, it switches off again until the list has content
- List deleted: the widget loses its link to the list, has no items and is hidden
- Pre-filters: the item count and preview reflect what the app actually shows, not the full list
- Older app versions: if your app hasn't been updated yet, the widget is simply not shown. It won't break the screen
What's Not Included
This feature only creates Image Collections from Content Lists. It doesn't cover:
- Card Collection widgets
- Link Collection widgets
- Image Carousel widgets
- Collections built from a Schedule
FAQ
Q: Can I still build an Image Collection manually?
A: Yes. The + New Image Collection option is unchanged. The new option sits alongside it.
Q: Which lists can I use?
A: Activity, Performer and Location list screens. They're grouped by type in the dropdown.
Q: What if my list has 40 items?
A: The first 10 are used. Turn on Randomize Order to shuffle those 10 each time the app is opened.
Q: How do I change which 10 items show up?
A: Edit the source list. The order is set on your content with the Order field, not inside the widget.
Q: Why can't I edit the images or titles inside the widget?
A: A linked collection mirrors its list. Editing the list keeps the widget and the list screen consistent.
Q: My widget disappeared from the app or won't stay visible. Why?
A: The linked list is most likely empty. The widget hides itself so an empty collection is never published. Add content to the list and the widget becomes available again.
Q: I set this up but nothing shows in the app. What's wrong?
A: The feature needs to be enabled on your project and your app needs the latest update. Reach out to your Implementation Manager, Account Manager or Strategic Client Success Manager to check both.
Q: Does the live preview match what my users will see?
A: Yes. The preview applies the same pre-filters as the app.
